I read through the whole post: I believe that mathematically what you're trying to instill to us has merit. I will be in Saratoga Springs in the next few weeks. Perhaps I may be able to adopt some of your key points (especially the last part about Catching The Numbers). This is not a get-rich scheme, but something you put time and effort into so that if you do decide to place a bet, at least you're well-informed about the parties represented in the specific race.
