New York Jets Merchandise Can Fuel Your Team’s Victory
At a very early age, we learn the importance of sharing. We learn to share everything from food, to toys, to time. Likewise, some professional sports teams have to share cities or regions. In basketball, there are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers. In baseball, there are the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Cubs. In the NFL, there are the New York Giants, the Buffalo Bills, and the New York Jets.
Speaking of the Jets, what defines a jet aircraft? The jet engine, which forces hot air and gasses out of the aircraft’s rear, is the key. Typically capable of flying at altitudes up to 10,000-15,000 meters, they are much more efficient than aircrafts that propellers power.
So how did the New York team receive the name of an ultra-fast aircraft? In 1960, eight new football franchise owners launched the American Football League (AFL), to rival the existing NFL. One of those original teams was the New York Titans. Football gurus typically considered the Titans to be an inferior team that played at the dilapidated Polo Grounds. In fact, they also considered the AFL, full of many players that the NFL had rejected, as an inferior league.
Nevertheless, the Titans remained as determined as fans sporting Sports Logo Merchandise today. In their first game on September 11th, the Titans defeated the Buffalo Bills 27-3. The Titans finished the season in second place, with a 7-7 record. In 1963, the Titans would get a new stadium (Shea Stadium) and a new name. Because the stadium stood beside LaGuardia Airport, the Titans became the Jets.
JETS IN THE SUPER BOWL
Super Bowl III (1968)
This was one of the most storied Super Bowls in the history of the championship game. The drama leading up to the game intensified the public’s anticipation of it. Though the Baltimore Colts were heavily favored prior to the game, Joe Namath, the Jets’ quarterback, guaranteed that his team would win the game. He also argued that the NFL’s quarterbacks (including the Colts’ Earl Morrall) were overrated, while the AFL’s quarterbacks were underrated.
In Super Bowl III, Namath proved that he did not just talk the talk. He delivered like a
Sports Merchandise Sale does. In the first half, the Jets struck first to earn a 7-0 lead. They then picked off three of Morrall’s passes, causing the Colts’ coach to berate his team at halftime, observing, "We’re making stupid mistakes." In the second half, the Jets scored nine points on three field goals. While the Colts scored a TD, it was too little and too late. The Jets had made Namath a prophet. One of the most memorable Super Bowl memories was created as Namath ran off the field at the game’s conclusion, with his arm and finger raised to indicate that the Jets were indeed the champions of professional football.

FAMOUS JETS HEAD COACHES
Wilbur Ewbank, Coach of the Jets from 1963 to 1973, engineered the team’s victory in Super Bowl III. In fact, Ewbank is the only professional football coach to win world championships in the AFL and NFL. While head coach of the Baltimore Colts, Eubank’s teams won NFL titles in 1958 and 1959. Meanwhile, his 1968 Jets won the AFL title, as well as the Super Bowl. Winning Super Bowl III was an astounding feat, as the Colts were heavily favored over the Jets.
Ewbank’s feats were as impressive as New York Jets Merchandise. This was not merely due to the championships themselves, but in the manner in which he won them. He rebuilt unorganized teams after taking over the squads in Baltimore and then New York. Ewbank’s success was greatly due to his ability to evaluate his players and then effectively interact with them.
JETS PLAYERS IN THE HALL OF FAME
Don Maynard (wide receiver):
Don’s Maynard’s journey to the Jets took an interesting route. Maynard attended Texas Western College, where he played halfback for the football team, and was a track star as well. Maynard played one year with the New York Giants (1957) before he played for a year in the Canadian Football League.
From 1960-1972, Don Maynard played for the New York Titans/Jets. In 1960, Maynard became the first player who signed to play for the New York Titans, a new franchise in the American Football League’s (AFL). Joe Namath and Don Maynard complemented each other, to create a potent duo.
Maynard’s biggest game was in the 1968 AFL Championship. A few of his catches, (totaling six completions and 118 yards), were as crucial as New York Jets Car Accessories for Jets fans. Upon his retirement, Maynard became only the sixth AFL/NFL player to achieve 50 receptions and over 1,000 yards receiving in five separate seasons.
Joe Namath (quarterback):
From 1965-1977 Namath played as one of the most thrilling and effective quarterbacks in professional football. Namath’s professional career began when the AFL’s New York Jets signed Namath and gave him a contract for a reported $400,000. During his rookie year, Namath quickly became a starter for the Jets and earned the AFL’s Rookie of the Year award. Then in 1967, Namath became the first professional quarterback to toss the pigskin for over 4,000 yards in a single season.
His most famous feat in the NFL was leading the New York Jets to victory against the Baltimore Colts 16-7, in Super Bowl III. Prior to the game Namath had guaranteed that his team would defeat the Colts. During the game, he walked the walk, completing passes totally 206 yards. Namath won the MVP award for Super Bowl III.
Joe Namath’s production during his pro football career was outstanding. In 12 seasons, he completed 1,886 passes for 27,663 yards and 173 touchdowns. He also earned all-league awards during four seasons. In addition, Namath participated in four all-star games in the AFL, and one NFL Pro Bowl.
