Golf techniques may focus on your swing. That is only one angle you are focusing on. You must also focus on your equipment particularly your golf clubs. Your golf clubs do not need to be new. There are a lot of used golf clubs you can rent or buy. But if your skill improves, so does your equipment. If you’re just beginning to play the sport, don’t worry. You just have to be accustomed in using your golf clubs. How they are supposed to be handled and what their functions are. You must know when to use the woods and when to use your irons. You may already know that woods are used for long approach shots while irons are used for shorter shots. As with woods and irons, wedges have different functions also. We have the sand wedges, gap wedges and the lob wedges. Putters are used for putting the golf balls on the putting. Hybrids are a combination of the good characteristics of the woods and irons.
Aside from golf clubs, you must also need to look at your posture. Your posture involves your stance, grip and of course your golf swing. It is important that you know the proper stance to be able to fully enhance your golf swing. If you will ask how your stance will enhance your golf skill, it lies on the momentum. A good stance will provide you a better momentum that will increase or decrease the power of your swing depending on the situation. You must know where to place your feet for you to be able to gain more balance while you are swinging your golf club. You must also remember to bend your knees and watch the position of your shoulders when swinging. You may now notice that to achieve a good posture, it requires the cooperation of your body from your feet to your arms. When you achieve this good posture, you will notice that you now have consistency every time you swing your golf clubs. To apply this consistency to your golf swing in any situation, you must know to control your tempo and rhythm. Tempo is the speed of your golf swing while rhythm is the flow of your golf swing. If you combine your timing and rhythm with good timing you will surely look good on the golf course.
Now let’s move on to how you will hold your golf club. There are three types of grip. We have the Vardon overlap grip, Interlocking grip and the Ten-finger grip also known as the Baseball grip. The Vardon overlap grip was popularized by Harry Vardon. It is done by by taking the little finger of your trail hand and then you place your finger between the middle and index finger on your lead hand. It is also the most common grip among golfers. The interlocking grip by done by taking the little finger of your trailing hand and intertwine it with the index finger of your lead hand. This grip is the second common grip among golfers. Tiger woods use this grip. The least common grip is the ten finger grip. It is done by gripping the club with your lead hand first and then position the little finger of your trailing hand beside the index finger of your lead hand.
If you can master these factors, you will surely be a force to be reckoned with on the golf course. All you need to do is to have the practice and determination to improve. You may not have all the time to practice. That is alright. You do not need to spend a whole month to be able to improve. You can practice occasionally but make it count. Remember that it is the quality of your practice that matters.
