NHL Atlantic Division Teams

The New Jersey Devils play in Newark, NJ. The Devils were founded in Missouri. The Devils have missed the playoffs only once in 20 seasons. They call the New Jersey’s Prudential Center home. The arena 1st opened for the 2007 season. With excellent hockey teams come good rivalries. The Devils are rivals with the New York Rangers and the Philadelphia Flyers.
They were renamed the Scouts in the 1970s after a city’s statue.
Before the 1978-1979 season, the owner Jack Vickers sold his team to a man named Arthur Imperatore. He announced that he wanted to move the team to the Meadowlands in New Jersey.
The team was placed in good proximity of the NY-NJ-CT area.
The NJ Devil hypes up the crowd. The NJ Devil participates in intermission entertainment. He skates on the ice and runs throughout the arena to high five fans wearing New Jersey Devils merchandise.
The NY Islanders play their home games in Uniondale, New York. They started playing in 1972. They have had dominant teams in the 1980s. During that ten year period they won championships. They play on Long Island.
The New York Islanders were expected to use Long Island Ducks as their name but ‘New York Islanders’ was a shocker to most people.
The Islanders made probably the biggest turnaround in all of NHL history. As expected, people started buying New York Islanders merchandise like crazy to support their good team.  
The New York Rangers play in New York City in Madison Square Garden, home to NBA’s New York Knicks. They were one of the oldest franchises in hockey. They joined the hockey league in 1926. They were 1 of the original six teams. They have won the Stanley Cup a total of four times.
The Islanders began play in 1972 and had to pay $4 million to the NY Rangers for a territorial fee. The rivalry between these two New York teams grew after their third meeting in their histories. The Rangers split their first 2 games with the other New York team. The third game went into overtime, thus, a rivalry was born. The Rangers fans show their enthusiasm for their team by bringing all of their New York Rangers merchandise to the matchups with their closest opponent.
The Rangers were competitive during the 1980s. They made the playoff but failed to do much once they got there.
The Philadelphia Flyers are based in Philly. The Flyers were part of NHL’s 1967 Expansion. They were the only team not part of the Original Six to win a Stanley Cup in the 1970s. In fact, they won two that decade. They have played for the championship five times since they won it all 1975 but they came up short each time. Every time Philadelphia Flyers merchandise was seen all over the stadium. The enthusiasm from the fans wasn’t enough and now the Flyers are 0-5 in their last Stanley Cup appearances.
The Pittsburgh Penguins play in Pittsburgh. The team was founded during the 1967 expansion where the number of teams doubled to twelve teams. They have won the Stanley Cup championship twice in their history and it happened in back to back years starting in 1991. There weren’t any happier fans in the early part of the 1990’s than the Pittsburgh Penguins fans. The Pittsburgh Penguins merchandise sold like tickets to the hottest show in town. They had many reasons to be so excited. They hadn’t won a trophy prior to 1991.
