Tigers Make Good Competitors
The LSU Tigers play at Louisiana State University. The school has 14 varsity sports. Purple and gold are the school’s colors. Even a LSU Tigers pillow is those colors.
The Tigers have one of the highest winning percentages of all schools in the country. The football team plays at Tiger stadium. The school has a long-standing rivalry with Ole Miss and Tulane. The Tigers also have Alabama, Arkansas, and Auburn marked on their schedules as "must win" games. For these rivalry games, you see the most LSU items like LSU Tigers merchandise and faces painted.
LSU fans often have signs that say "Geaux Tigers", not "Go Tigers".
LSU became the first school last year to win 10 SEC championships each in men’s basketball, football, and baseball.
The football team competes in SEC’s western division. The stadium holds over 92,000 people. LSU became the first football team last year to lose two games but win the big National Championship game.

Dennis Shaver also coaches the women’s indoor track and field team. They have won three national championships this century. They last won the SEC championship in ‘07 and ‘08.
Shaver coaches the outdoor men and women’s track and field teams. The men’s team has 4 national championships and 22 SEC championships. The women’s team has 14 national championships and 8 SEC championships. Although not popular at most schools, fans of LSU from time to time talk about the track teams. At the track meets, you see LSU merchandise in great numbers.
